Walt Pulcini was born and raised in a rural area 20 miles east of Rochester, New York.
Raised in a large Italian family, most of whom were business owners, Walt had the opportunity to learn the traits of being a hard worker watching his father work from early mornings until sometimes very late at night in his own construction company.
Walt’s mother, “Marjorie” was also self-employed in several different businesses, always creating something artistic until she mastered the particular medium she was working with and moved onto the next.
Influenced by watching his mother win award after award in these different mediums, Walt found himself using both his Father’s traits of working hard with his hands and his Mother’s traits of creating art.
Walt opened his first stained glass shop in Williamsport Pennsylvania in 1983. It was there where he began teaching stained glass.
Some of Walt's bigger projects included restoring the stained glass windows in the Warrenville United Methodist Church in PA and creating and installing a large stained glass window (inclusive of painting and firing glass) for Marrone's "Old Corner Hotel". He also created and installed the local YMCA stained glass window above the entrance. In Florida, Walt and his partner Lisa have been restoring old windows and creating new windows. Church windows and residential windows are a big part of their business.
Walt has been creating, restoring and teaching stained glass on and off for over 35 years, either in his own studios or at local Vo-techs.
Today, besides teaching students to work with different mediums in his studio, Walt creates many different art pieces for sale. While he enjoys working with a varity of different type meduims, his bottle trees have been his recent focus and have been "planted" in EVERY state in the country.
His studio started creating bottle trees in 2007. As with most of his efforts, the trees are created one at a time with care taken to create each one.
"My bottle trees are sandblasted and painted. There's not another company out there that takes those efforts in creating bottle trees. As with everything I do, I try and do my best. I attempt to create bottle trees far better than what's out on the market today. I've shipped them to EVERY state in The USA including Alaska and Hawaii. I've also shipped to Australia, Great Britten and Canada. I've built special orders for bottle trees for years".
Larger pieces (such as his bottle trees and furniture) he works on in his workshop. He's currently creating his art pieces with Wood, Stained Glass, Dichroic Glass, Metal and Mosaics. He continues to look for new mediums of interest to him to introduce into his pieces.
You’ll find Walt’s work in homes and businesses up and down the eastern coast including New York, Conniticut, Maine, Pennsylvania and Florida.
You can visit his studio and bottle tree farm at 1217 Parkside Ave, Inverness, Florida.
